trojan-horse.jpg The Big Winner in the EU Expansion: Washington (12.10.2002): Friedbert Pflueger, the foreign policy spokesman of the Christian Democrat grouping in the German Bundestag, said flatly that the ‘influence of the United States will be fostered by the Central and East European countries which look more to the U.S. than to Europe.’

The Eastern Questions: Turkey and the EU (11/26/2002): The U.S. is pushing the EU to admit Turkey in the relatively near future. So is Britain. But France, Germany, and much of Europe are quietly but implacably opposed. The French see Turkey as another American “Trojan Horse” within the EU like the British.

US may provoke row over GM food labelling (08/14/2001): America is furious at EU-wide plans to insist that all food containing one percent GM ingredients be labelled with the fact. Washington, under pressure from GM crop growers, is considering challenging the EU plans under world trade law and wants Britain to present the US case in Europe.

And now this: EU Nations Knew About CIA Jails: Many EU nations were aware that the CIA used their territory for the transfer or detention of terror suspects, a draft European parliament report says.

US President George W Bush admitted in September that the CIA had used prisons abroad for the secret detention of terror suspects, but he did not specify where the prisons were.

Mr Fava’s report singled out the governments of Poland and Romania of failing to co-operate with the investigation.

Fourteen European states colluded with the CIA in secret US flights for terror suspects, a report concludes.

The most serious charges are levelled at Poland and Romania, where Mr Marty says there is enough evidence to support suspicions that CIA secret prisons were established.

rabbis_agaist_zionism-bis.jpg Neturei Karta International, founded in Jerusalem, Palestine in 1938, is the Aramaic term for “Guardians of the City.” The name Neturei-Karta originates from an incident in which R. Yehudah Ha-Nassi (Rabbi Judah the Prince) sent R. Hiyya and R. Ashi on a pastoral tour of inspection. In one town they asked to see the “guardians of the city” and the city guard was paraded before them. They said that these were not the guardians of the city but its destroyers, which prompted the citizens to ask who, then, could be considered the guardians. The rabbis answered, “The scribes and the scholars.”

The name was given to a group of Orthodox Jews in Jerusalem who refused (and still refuse) to recognize the existence or authority of the so-called “State of Israel” and made (and still make) a point of publicly demonstrating their position, the position of the Torah and authentic unadulterated Judaism.

Over the years, a number of Neturei Karta activists and followers settled outside of Palestine. Some of the reasons that these individuals abandoned the country in which they and their families had lived for many generations (having lived there many years prior to the establishment of the illegitimate so-called “State of Israel”) include: ideological refusal to live under the illegitimate heretical “Israeli” regime, them being exiled by the Zionist government for their insistence of remaining independent of the illegitimate heretical regime or them being unable to live a normal family life due to them and their families being persistently harassed, repeatedly incarcerated and many times even physically tortured by the Zionist police and agents. This dispersion resulted in the emergence of various Neturei Karta establishments on the broader international scene. These establishments include synagogues, educational institutions, publishing houses and organizations.

• Neturei Karta oppose the so-called “State of Israel” not because it operates secularly, but because the entire concept of a sovereign Jewish state is contrary to Jewish Law.

• Jews are not allowed to dominate, kill, harm or demean another people and are not allowed to have anything to do with the Zionist enterprise, their political meddling and their wars.

• The true Jews remain faithful to Jewish belief and are not contaminated with Zionism.

• The true Jews are against dispossessing the Arabs of their land and homes. According to the Torah, the land should be returned to them.

• The world must know that the Zionists have illegitimately seized the name Israel and have no right to speak in the name of the Jewish people.

Palestine belongs to the Palestinians. Jews and Israel: Extreme Opposites

UPDATE  Ahmadinejad’s Message to the American People: … We, like you, are aggrieved by the ever-worsening pain and misery of the Palestinian people. Persistent aggressions by the Zionists are making life more and more difficult for the rightful owners of the land of Palestine . In broad day-light, in front of cameras and before the eyes of the world, they are bombarding innocent defenseless civilians, bulldozing houses, firing machine guns at students in the streets and alleys, and subjecting their families to endless grief.

No day goes by without a new crime. Palestinian mothers, just like Iranian and American mothers, love their children, and are painfully bereaved by the imprisonment, wounding and murder of their children. What mother wouldn’t?

For 60 years, the Zionist regime has driven millions of the inhabitants of Palestine out of their homes. Many of these refugees have died in the Diaspora and in refugee camps. Their children have spent their youth in these camps and are aging while still in the hope of returning to homeland.

You know well that the US administration has persistently provided blind and blanket support to the Zionist regime, has emboldened it to continue its crimes, and has prevented the UN Security Council from condemning it.

Who can deny such broken promises and grave injustices towards humanity by the US administration? Governments are there to serve their own people. No people wants to side with or support any oppressors. But regrettably, the US administration disregards even its own public opinion and remains in the forefront of supporting the trampling of the rights of the Palestinian people….

What has blind support for the Zionists by the US administration brought for the American people? It is regrettable that for the US administration, the interests of these occupiers supersedes the interests of the American people and of the other nations of the world. What have the Zionists done for the American people that the US administration considers itself obliged to blindly support these infamous aggressors?

mike_luckovich.gif “You know Mog, the United States has forever changed the common man’s idea of democracy. While America tout themselves to be the epitome of democratic ideals, they are blatantly disregarding international laws and conventions, invading sovereign nations and torturing innocent people at locations outside their borders.

“The common man will say to himself: If this is the Western definition of democracy, we want no part of it. For example, the Khmer Rouge wanted to purge Cambodia of western culture, systematically killing millions of students and intellectuals. More recently, America is again the catalyst for the systematic kidnappings and murders of Iraq’s academics.

“And in the Philippines, elemental nationalists have got their way by having tagalog as the medium of instruction in schools, in defiance of America’s colonial influence on the nation. The language barrier will severely limit prospects for new graduates, confining them to a country with not much to offer by way of meaningful employment.

“America is despised for its hostile foreign policy. Where will all this lead to?”

“I think this will lead to peoples of those countries, victims of America’s biased definition of democracy, to retaliate, Yaw, and go against anything which they deem “western,” as the Khmer Rouge and the Filipinos have done. But in retaliating, they will only take a step backwards, not forward.

“It’s a Catch-22 situation, Yaw. Let’s say these people “embrace” America’s definition of democracy and western culture. Taking example of the American leader, they in turn will invade sovereign nations, disregard international laws and participate in the arms race. While others like North Korea are arming themselves against America’s threats of war.”

“If only the United States would respect the sovereignty of nations, Mog, and if only the United States would keep their capitalistic ventures within the confines of what is fair and equitable for both sides of the corporate and the local population, what a peaceful world this would be.”

“I’m afraid that’s too late, Yaw.”

General Ivashov: “International terrorism does not exist”: … he explains that the September 11 attacks were the result of a set-up. What we are seeing is a manipulation by the big powers; this terrorism would not exist without them. He affirms that, instead of faking a “world war on terror”, the best way to reduce that kind of attacks is through respect for international law and peaceful cooperation among countries and their citizens.

It is globalization what creates the conditions for the emergence of these extremely dangerous phenomena. It is in this context that the new world geo-strategic map is being designed, that the resources of the planet are being re-distributed, that borders are disappearing, that international law is being torn into pieces, that cultural identities are being erased, that spiritual life becomes impoverished…

The analysis of the essence of the globalization process, the military and political doctrines of the United States and other countries, shows that terrorism contributes to a world dominance and the submissiveness of states to a global oligarchy. This means that terrorism is not something independent of world politics but simply an instrument, a means to install a unipolar world with a sole world headquarters, a pretext to erase national borders and to establish the rule of a new world elite. It is precisely this elite that constitutes the key element of world terrorism, its ideologist and its “godfather”. The main target of the world elite is the historical, cultural, traditional and natural reality; the existing system of relations among states; the world national and state order of human civilization and national identity.

Today’s international terrorism is a phenomenon that combines the use of terror by state and non-state political structures as a means to attain their political objectives through people’s intimidation, psychological and social destabilization, the elimination of resistance inside power organizations and the creation of appropriate conditions for the manipulation of the countries’ policies and the behavior of people.

to-do-list.jpeg • I hope the Democratic Congress will undo not renew all those laws passed by Bush to curtail American freedom (Patriot Act, etc) and hold Bush, Cheney, Rice, Bolton, Rove et al accountable for all the national and international conventions broken and ignored.

• I hope they dismantle those military bases in Iraq. America should get out of Iraq and Afghanistan now.

• I hope they get Bolton out of the United Nations.

• I hope they neutralise the Jewish lobbies and hold Israel accountable for all the atrocities they have inflicted on neighbours. They should scrutinise all lobbies and see if their interests do not infringe on what is right and proper.

• I hope they re-define America as a humble first-world nation that co-operates with the international community.

• I hope they re-organise the CIA to exclude that branch that operates in foreign countries to provoke and cause mayhem in order to protect American interests abroad. The CIA works independently of whoever is in government, and that should be scrutinised. They should also look into the mandate of the Army Special Operations Forces.

I know the last three points have been going on before this Administration came to rule, but it’s about time these issues were dealt with.

Here’s another general list: As the Democrats now prepare to regain control of the Legislative branch, let’s wish for a mutually beneficial cooperation across party lines, an era of prosperous bipartisanship with the best interest of all constituents at heart, where the winners can look past petty disagreements and work along with the losers and… and… mwahahahaHAHAHA… Right.

Bury them. Tear their electoral balls off. Declaw, spay and neuter the lot of them. Let congressional hearings rain. Open a can of Check’n’Balance whoopass on their collective thieving ass. Time to scrub the place clean.

And more:

Will the Democrats Become Part of the Problem? : If the Democrats are to make a real difference, their first task is to repeal the Orwellian-named “Patriot Acts,” the torture legislation, the detention without court evidence legislation, and the right-to-spy and invade privacy without court warrant legislation. The White House tyrant needs to be quickly told that one more “signing statement” and he will be impeached, convicted, and turned over to the War Crimes Tribunal at the Hague.

The notion that Americans can be protected from “terror” by giving up the Bill of Rights is absurd. Democrats are complicit in this absurd notion. Many were intimidated into voting for police state legislation, because they lacked the intestinal fortitude to call police state legislation by its own name. The legislation that has been passed during the Bush regime is far more dangerous to Americans than Muslim terrorists.

Indeed, the prime cause of Muslim terrorism is the US interference in the internal affairs of Muslim countries and America’s one-sided stance in favor of Israel in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Human Rights Denial Deserves Impeachment: We are in a time of extremism, permanent war, and the unilateral manifestation of ethnocentrism and power by an openly public cabal of people in the U.S. government. Those in power are set on the U.S. military domination of the world. They seem willing to defy the foundational values of the American people to achieve their ends. We have no choice but to declare openly our belief in universal human rights and demand the immediate impeachment of George W. Bush and Richard Cheney and a full accounting of those in their administration.

I doubt there is guilt: The Democratic Party has been all but dead for years as a meaningful national alternative. The party has no recognized national leader. It has no cause, no fire in the belly. It has been largely silent for six years while Bush rampaged through the world and literally peed on American liberties like a grotesquely-smirking, small-town sheriff. No President in history has shown so little respect for human rights, and with so little excuse, yet all the would-be defenders of the Republic, whether Congressmen or the Don’t-Tread-on-Me crowd, have been no where to be seen.

I doubt there is widespread concern that Iraqis still huddle in homes with no reliable electricity or clean water, no jobs, and fearful to step into murderous streets. I doubt there is much guilt over having killed half a million of them. I doubt there is guilt about running a secret gulag and torturing helpless captives. I doubt there is guilt about blood-spattered holes like Abu Ghraib. Because if there were such guilt, there would have been a revolt against Bush’s criminal government.

The Dem Congress Must Save the Internet: As much as anything, last Tuesday’s vote was also a call for Congress to end “business as usual” and return to governing in the public interest. Nowhere is this need more glaring than in media policymaking.

In the past 10 years, telecommunications, broadcasting and cable companies have spent more than half a billion dollars on campaign contributions, political action committees and high-priced lobbyists to push through self interested policies. These regulations — offering massive tax breaks, relaxed ownership rules, and unfettered control of the public airwaves — all come at our expense.

On the issue of net neutrality alone these companies spent more than $100 million last year — pushing Congress to remove the longstanding nondiscrimination rules that enabled the Internet to become the greatest vehicle for free speech and economic innovation. Instead of a truly free market that encourages entrepreneurship and creativity, they’re seeking special regulations that serve only to pad their bottom line.

Social responsibility is the moral responsibility of both the government and the private business sector.

GOP Makes Millions of Obnoxious Robo-Calls: Liberal bloggers are trying desperately this evening to get the mainstream media to cover a dirty trick of monumental proportions being waged by the Republican National Committee: Millions of obnoxious automated calls are being made that sound like they’re coming from Democratic candidates.

Illegal Phone Calls By GOP Designed to Turn Off Voters: In terms of precedent, in 2002, Republican Party officials in New Hampshire and Washington with ties to the White House jammed phones to prevent Democrats from voting. This is just the latest example of why it’s time for a change in Washington.

“With no record of accomplishment on the economy or border security and no strategy to speak of in Iraq, the only thing Republicans have left to sell is fear itself and Americans aren’t buying,” said Bill Burton, communications director of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. “It’s time for a new direction in Washington because Americans deserve bipartisan solutions to the problems we face, not more dirty tricks and illegal calls meant to intimidate.”

Washington Post: It’s a Candidate Calling. Again: This year’s heavy volume of automated political phone calls has infuriated countless voters and triggered sharp complaints from Democrats, who say the Republican Party has crossed the line in bombarding households with recorded attacks on candidates in tight House races nationwide.

Some voters, sick of interrupted dinners and evenings, say they will punish the offending parties by opposing them in today’s elections. But critics say Republicans crafted the messages to delude voters — especially those who hang up quickly — into thinking that Democrats placed the calls.
