There are all types of people in the world, of different educational backgrounds, religious upbringing and diverse political leanings. Some will agree with your opinions and with the stands you make, but not all. When there is a disagreement, the rules of etiquette and diplomacy dictate that both parties agree to disagree. People who know this are educated and are more often open-minded.
When America and France disagreed on the invasion of Iraq, the United States government launched an all-out smear campaign against France. Good French wine were emptied in the streets, french fries were called freedom fries, and all sorts of other names were used to defame a nation especially far more civilised, far more cultured and far more experienced in the world of diplomacy than America ever will be.
This childish reaction speaks alot about America.
