“Yaw, what is the meaning of existence?”
“I’ve been wondering about that myself, Mog. I think that the primordial purpose of life is procreation. The human race has to survive. But among all living things on earth, man is a cogitating being. We seek to give meaning to our lives.
“You can find meaning in life by devoting yourself to society. I think you and I exist to make the world a better place, in whatever field of endeavour we are good at. You and I exist to work towards a way of life that enables everyone to survive–a life that is comfortable for all. When we improve the lives of those around us, we also improve our own. Ultimately, everyone is happy. When you are happy, then you have found meaning to your existence.”

It’s my first time hearing about “Yaw & Mog”, so here goes.
My view of society has some background in other cultures, pacific islanders, but is fairly limited. I have done nothing but cogitate about everything my whole life. I’m 45 now and still waiting to start my life because I have found no purpose.
In the U.S.A, I see that many individuals are selfish and hurtfull. The pack behavior influences many and some of us are tormented when we are perceived as weak or vunerable.
I love to serve others and have felt the joy in that service, but now that I’m old and cynical I just don’t care anymore.
I have yet to be happy for a period longer than a few months.
My main problem is what is all the struggle and pain for when I don’t know what it will get me in the end.
It sound sad and pathetic, I know, but that’s who I am and where I’m at.

Hi, Mark. I’m in Paris right now and would like to give you a thoughtful reply. May I get back to you later?
I know exactly how you feel. I’ve been looking for the meaning of existence in a world that seems like it’s going to the dogs.
Catch you later.

“I once complained about having no shoes, until I saw a man who had no feet…”
Happiness is a feeling of contentment, and I believe the source of dissatisfaction of many people is not being happy with what we have.
There will always be greater or lesser people than ourselves. Don’t worry for the the “greater” ones, they can fend for themselves. But the “lesser” ones, who may look up to you for hope or inspiration, are the ones you mustn’t let down.
Look into their welfare and see what you can do. What an enormous satisfaction it is to do something for them — to alleviate their fears, their suffering, their plight.
Stop thinking of what can make you happy because anything you think of, you will be dissatisfied with. Think instead of other people in far worse situation than yourself. Being there for them gives meaning to your existence.
